South Haven’s 15th Annual Fishing Tournament Results

 

The port of South Haven provided the backdrop for two days of great weather, record participation, and excellent fishing.  Eighty boats participated in the event with a total of 1170 fish caught over the two days.

 

The big fish of the tournament was a 21.25 pound king salmon weighed in by Brian Veenstra of Holland from the boat, “Bite Me”.  Smallest fish honors went to Fred Sackett aboard “Past Due”.  Other big fish winners included Virg Hendrickson for big lake trout (18.25 pounds), Steve Warner for big brown trout (13.5 pounds), and Rolf Neitzel for big steelhead (11.65 pounds).

 

The top finishers in the pro division were:  1st place Matt Strong, 2nd place Jim Swanezy,3rd place Kevin Schippa, 4th place Ron Wind, and 5th place Dan Millward.  In the amateur division, 1st place Dan Strong, 2nd place Carl Laaksonen, 3rd place Rob Crago, 4th place Rob Richert, and 5th place Bill Macpherson.
